Wed, March 2nd 9:30am: “Creating an Epidemic of Perverts:The DSM-5's New Approach to Paraphilias”-Patrick Singy, PhD. The Bioethics Program Scholar-in-Residence, holds a Ph.D. in history and philosophy of science from the University of Chicago and has held postdoctoral fellowships at Northwestern University and Columbia University. His published articles cover diverse topics in the history of sexuality as well as historiography and Michel Foucault. He is working on a book on the history of sadism.
Wed, April 6th 9:30am: “Bioethics and The Media”-Benita Zahn. Benita is Co-Anchor and Health Reporter, News Channel 13 Live at 5 and 6 with Jim Kambrich. She is also the health reporter, covering issues including wellness, treatment breakthroughs, aging, nutrition and the latest health care trends. She also co-produces and hosts "Health LINK" Tuesday nights on WMHT.
Wed, May 4th 9:30am: "Advance Directives, Dementia, and Physician-Assisted Death."- Bonnie Steinbock, PhD. Bonnie Steinbock is Professor of Philosophy at the University at Albany, and a founding faculty member of the Union-Mt. Sinai Bioethics Program. She is the author of 65 articles and encyclopedia entries, and Life Before Birth: The Moral and Legal Status of Embryos and Fetuses (Oxford 1992; paperback edition 1996). She is the editor of The Oxford Handbook of Bioethics (2007) and Legal and Ethical Issues in Human Reproduction (Ashgate 2002). She is a Fellow of the Hastings Center, and a member of the ethics committee of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.
