Congratulations to The Bioethics Program Class of 2010

 

On June 12th, 2010 The Bioethics Program of Union Graduate College and The Mount Sinai School of Medicine graduated 10 students with the Master of Science in Bioethics degree. Five students received Certificates of Advanced Study in Bioethics.

The ceremony took place on the Campus of nearby Union College with a bagpipe procession preceding the talks and conferral of degrees. The keynote speaker was David Shippee, MBAH, a UGC graduate and current CEO of Chase Braxton Health Services, Inc., Maryland's largest community based provider of HIV care. Our own Professor Philpott, served as the Grand Marshall.

Student speaker Justin Schmiedel MBAH �10 echoed Shippee�s words by acknowledging his own mentor, his uncle Joseph Stern MBAH �90.  Schmiedel encouraged all graduating students to thank the support system that helped each of them reach graduation day. During his time at Union Graduate College Schmiedel served as President of the Graduate Student Assembly. He now heads to Cleveland for a fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic, beating out 200 hopefuls across the nation for this coveted position.
